Tell Your Friends About My Art

I recently saw this image in my Instagram feed and felt the need to address it.

The image says...Tell your rich friends about my art stuff.

I have a problem with the concept that only rich people buy art and even further a problem with the use off the word stuff as a belittling word reducing the importance and magnitude of art.

I make are for myself. My art expresses Mt thoughts, feelings and view points. Once my art is complete, I offer it to the world with the hope that it will touch someone's soul.

That there will be a needed tear or smile. That an emotion will come out from behind the entertainment and delusion with which we self-soothe.

I am not rich, and neither is my art.

I am valuable, and so is my art.

Tell your friends about me.

Tell them how I made you feel, about the conversations we had and the laughs we shared.

Tell your friends about my art and how it touched you and how you heard your brothers voice.

Give my art a new home.

Adopt it if you will. Into a place where it will be cherished and valued.

Think on my art and with my art.

Carrying it to each new home near and far.

I am not rich, and neither is my art.

I am valuable, and so is my art.
